Justice League of America - Issue 2
Featuring the twin menaces of The Sinister Sorcerers and spell-check necessity
The Justice League (aka the Justice League of America, aka the JLA, aka Justice League International, aka Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021)) is a collection of the DC Universe's greatest heroes (and also Green Arrow).
I talked about why I love the JLA in this piece here. Now I’m breaking down each and every issue of the comic book, from their very first appearance, with Atom-sized summaries. Enjoy!

The Sinister Sorcerers show up in the second issue of Justice League of America to switch Earth with, uh, Magic-Land, in the process removing all science on Earth and all magic on Magic-Land. Presumably, it's now just ‘-Land’. The Justice League solve the problem in the same way you or I would - namely, by casting a spell and summoning Merlin to help round up this otherwise forgettable group of villains, whose most successful moment of evil-doing was making me unsure whether it was spelled 'sorcerers' or 'sorcerors'. Any villains I have to regularly spell-check are problematic.
Fun With Comics!
MVP
It’s Wonder Woman, whose immediate response to the crisis sweeping the world is to head to the library and do some research. Good thinking, Diana. Don’t just rush headlong into action - educate yourself! (LVP, by the way, would be Supes. ‘Come to think of it’, magic is a weakness of mine? When you’re the most powerful superhero in the world, capable of almost any feat with only a couple of forces in the universe able to limit your impossible deeds, maybe keep those forces a little more uppermost in one’s Kryptonian mind.)
Top Panel
Snapper Carr accidentally turns himself into a blue giant after goofing around with Merlin’s wand, and the JLA immediately use this as an excuse to beat the living snot out of him. Great stuff!
