Justice League of America - Issue 10
Featuring the twin menaces of Felix Faust and a non-Doctor Who time lord
The Justice League (aka the Justice League of America, aka the JLA, aka Justice League International, aka Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021)) is a collection of the DC Universe's greatest heroes (and also Green Arrow).
I talked about why I love the JLA in this piece here. Now I’m breaking down each and every issue of the comic book, from their very first appearance, with Atom-sized summaries. Enjoy!
Let’s meet Felix Faust, a wizard and/or sorcerer and/or magic-user who gets his kicks by hanging out with demons and bargaining his soul for things - rarely good moves. In this issue, Faust first rears his damn fool magic head, summoning the power of infamous boy band, the Demons Three, via three artefacts: the Green Bell of Uthool, the Silver Wheel of Nyorlath, and the Red Jar of Calythos. Not at all surprising that one of those ancient artefacts sounds uncannily like ‘you tool’. As a precursor to how things will tend to go for the worrisomely unthreatening Faust, he is defeated here primarily by work from Aquaman and some of his pet fish. So, y'know, not the greatest of debuts for Faust.
Fun With Comics!
MVP
Oh, yeah. Forgot to mention. In between the Faust nonsense, the JLA are also fighting The Lord of Time in this issue. But apparently his ‘time-gaps’ can be sealed by issue MVP Martian Manhunter and his Martian-vision. So he’s not much of a threat either.
Top Panel
Massive fan of Abnegazar here just yak-yak-yakking about how Felix Faust can take control of their powers for a century, while Rath behind him is hissing ‘shut up, dude’.
