Brave and the Bold - Issue 30
Featuring the twin menaces of Amazo and the iPhone closed ecosystem
The Justice League (aka the Justice League of America, aka the JLA, aka Justice League International, aka Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021)) is a collection of the DC Universe's greatest heroes (and also Green Arrow).
I talked about why I love the JLA in this piece here. Now I’m breaking down each and every issue of the comic book, from their very first appearance, with Atom-sized summaries. Enjoy!
The Justice League discover their powers are all disappearing. “No problem for Batman!” chortles Aquaman, like a dick. “Bite me, Fish-Head,” retorts Batman. They’re being stolen by Amazo, an android created by the villainous Professor Ivo who possesses the ability to duplicate the powers of the Justice League, something not even the latest iPhone can do. Bizarrely, Amazo's crime spree with these stolen powers revolves primarily around animal theft. Luckily, quick thinking from Green Lantern (!) saves the day and Amazo is deactivated and kept in the JLA trophy room.
Fun With Comics!
MVP
It’s Green Lantern, who not only saves the day with some wild extrapolation of his power ring’s limitations, but also takes the opportunity to prattle on for a few panels about how he did it.

Top Panel

This is everything that’s good about comic books. Aquaman water-skiing via Green Lantern’s ring on the way to guard the oldest tortoise in the world from a villain who wants to steal its secrets to create an immortality serum. Also, look at Arthur’s one-handed form! That’s the King of the Seven Seas for you.
