Morpheus Off The Long Run
A grim confluence of familial social activities and previously scheduled Hitchcockian theatrical engagements limited my viewing of the first innings of this particular match.
Oh, sure, I got the general gist of it, by checking in occasionally - Phoebe Litchfield century, mildly chaotic India fielding, broadcast cutting out as Ellyse Perry was dismissed, and, somehow, Australia’s total of 338 feeling a weirdly disappointing overall effort, given the foundation Litchfield and Perry built.
Not that the shortfall mattered, right? A target of 339 was still way too much for any sensible team to feasibly contemplate running down, right? Especially when Smriti Mandhana - India’s least sensible and most running down-contemplative batter - succumbed to a sharp piece of Alyssa Healy glovework/reviewing.
Right?
I drifted off to sleep around that point, once again unable to retain interest in one of these godawful 350ish plays 350ish matches.
Here’s what I missed, in limerick form.
A thesis India held to be true, then
Was to defeat the Aussies you had to crash through them
And to ensure they were beat
Required an incredible feat
Of batting from Rodrigues - a true Jem
Great stuff from Jemimah - who, thanks to her stint with Red Melbourne, has long been one of my favourite India players. And good on her for not letting my disdain for batter-centric ODIs dissuade her from completing an epic run chase. After all, I’m just a lone idiot. Never forget that.

So much emotion there at the end, legit makes me tear up, LOL (I'm a big softie, I guess:)).
As a practicing Christian, didn't realise Jemimah was one so that was cool.
My only concern would be that it feels like India have played their final already - would be interesting to see how they can emotionally recover in time for Sunday:)
