Foot-Centric Wicket-Claiming Convictions
Grade: C

Not content with scoring a century on the second day of the Test, Tammy Beaumont decided she’d score another one on the third day, moving her score from 100* overnight to 208, when she was the last batter dismissed in England’s innings.

No matter what the Australians tried, they seemed unable to budge her. They tried catching her by way of a rebound off her boot, but then forgot to appeal loud enough to convince the umpires to send the decision upstairs (or to have enough conviction in their foot-centric wicket claims to send it up themselves).

They also tried trapping her LBW via leg-spinner Alana King, only for Beaumont to have enough conviction in her foot-centric wicket claims to send the decision upstairs, where it was overturned when the ball was found to have pitched a bee’s dick outside leg stump. (A fact confirmed by a passing apiarist called in to remove a beehive that was found on the Trent Bridge nets. (This is not a joke.))
