England returned for the second day, as is their right, no doubt hopeful that with Australia seven wickets down, they could wrap up the innings quickly. 

Their plan? To use the excess Laurens in their attack to work their way through the Australian tail. And, to an extent, it worked, with Lauren Bell jagging one back in from outside off stump to bowl Alana King.

Is it fair for England to have such a Lauren-heavy attack? Obviously not. Choose one of Lauren Filer or Lauren Bell. You can’t have both. Frankly, the ICC needs to clamp down on this. Enforce some Lauren order. 

(Dun-dun sound!)

England’s other plan (apart from bowling Sophie Ecclestone for thousands of overs) was to get their fingers on every ball struck back at them and deflect it onto the stumps.

This obviously takes tremendous skill and was the clear result of countless hours of net training. Having said that, it was also incredibly surprising, especially considering their previous stance on the matter, to see them go for so many attempts at run outs at the non-striker’s end.
