Once again, I had only an hour or so of cricket-watching time before social obligations befell me.
Fortunately, those lovely England chaps apparently heard of my predicament and agreed to collapse for just 112 before I headed off to the tram stop. Wonderful lads, with an innate sense of Melbourne public transport timetables.
Leading from the front was captain Ben Stokes who realised he’d wasted eight balls of my precious time and shouldered arms to the ninth to be trapped LBW. A wonderful dismissal, the best bit of which was not just that he left a ball going on to hit the stumps, he also left a ball going on to hit his dick. That’s #Bazball, baby.
Still, at least he held onto his bat this time. Sure, he didn’t use it. But baby steps for Ben.
