The Greatest Rivalry
Grade: B+
The Great T20 World Cup Rivalry Weekend™ concluded with Americans being given a tantalising glimpse into one of the most famous contests in the entire sport, a struggle for supremacy that beguiles fans throughout the world. I refer, of course, to rain vs cricket.
Then, after a couple of hours of that and a bit of a false start to the match, the covers came off, and we got a look into one of the other great contests - India v Pakistan.
Stupidly, Pakistan dismissed Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma early to bring the danger man Rishabh Pant to the crease.
Pant was up to all his usual free-wheeling antics, at one point rolling on his back like a turtle as he somehow manoeuvred the ball to the fine leg boundary.
Should Pakistan have gone Pant-less in New York? Look, it worked for Dennis Franz in NYPD Blue’s first season back in 1993. It could have worked for Pakistan almost thirty years later.
