Australian Survivor
Grade: B
Slightly embarrassing for India and New Zealand to still be playing this Champions Trophy when everybody else has long since moved on. Still, good for them, I suppose. March to the beat of your own drums, lads. Don’t let the jaded lack of enthusiasm from others bring you down.
I missed the beginning of the match, because I was watching Australian Survivor. But once that was complete, it was time to flip over and cleanse my palate with a different kind of contest, one famously free of the kind of nefarious and unscrupulous behaviour in which canny politicking or the deployment of powerful advantages can so often decide the winner.
Not that I paid all that much attention to the match, because I also had a good book to read and, as we all recall, this is still just the Champions Trophy.
Here’s what happened, in limerick form.
Was India's tournament sublime, or
Did they benefit from not having to fly more?
(Alas, to even hint at that criticism
Risks triggering the witticism
From hordes of fans, telling you to ‘cry more’)
Nevertheless, congratulations to India who join the immortal ranks of past Champions Trophy winners such as… uh… all the others.
And congratulations to the United Arab Emirates for successfully hosting the tournament. (Tip of the cap to Pakistan, too, for their assistance with some of the minor fixtures.)

Love that! :P
Cry even more!! Couldn't resist.
